Pulaski Released Mugshot Records
A booking photograph, often called a mugshot, is an image taken during intake. It records an arrest and booking event. It does not prove guilt, a conviction, current custody, or the legal outcome. Release also does not change what the image depicts. It remains tied to the date, agency, and booking that produced it. A later dismissal, acquittal, sentence, appeal, or expungement must be read from the court record.
Pulaski County adults are housed at New River Valley Regional Jail. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office may create arrest, incident, or transport records, but it does not operate the adult jail database. For the NRVRJ intake image, direct the first request to the regional jail. For a later state-prison image, use VADOC. Never label a prison intake photograph as the Pulaski or NRVRJ booking photo.
Virginia law does not require the jail to run a public mugshot gallery. Instead, it supplies a request route for a routine adult booking photograph, subject to lawful limits. This difference explains why a public photo may be available even when no gallery or released-person image appears online.
Pulaski Release Mugshot Channels
Use the source closest to the original booking. Each channel has a different scope, and none proves present legal status by itself. The official jail result and a direct records response are the strongest paths for a Pulaski local booking.
| Channel | Has photo? | How to access |
|---|---|---|
| NRVRJ released-inclusive lookup | May vary by individual detail | Search the booking and inspect the live detail |
| NRVRJ records request | Yes, if releasable | Request the routine adult intake photo for one booking |
| Pulaski Sheriff record | Only if that office maintains it | Request the specific sheriff-created record |
| VADOC record | May include a state image | Use the state locator or request the state correctional image |
| Virginia registry | Yes for persons required to register | Search the official registry only when legally relevant |
| Agency press or established news | Sometimes | Verify the original caption, date, identity, and later result |
| Commercial mirror | Sometimes, often stale | Treat only as a lead and return to official records |
Virginia Jail VINE is primarily a custody-event tool, not a durable photo archive. It can help confirm release or transfer from a local or regional jail. A VINE result should not be assumed to include a photograph unless the live record actually shows one.
Note: The photo source and custody-status source may differ, so record the agency and date attached to each result.
Pulaski Jail Mugshot Lookup
The official NRVRJ Inmate Management Lookup is the first online path. Its name search accepts First Name, Last Name, and Date of Birth. Identifier searches can use Booking Number, Permanent Number, State ID, County ID, FBI Number, or ICE Number. Both routes offer an “Include released inmates” checkbox. Observed results list Inmate Name, Booking Number, Permanent ID, Date of Birth, and Release Date.
The successful manifest capture below comes from the released-inclusive NRVRJ lookup and shows its controls without claiming that every record contains an image.
Open the matching detail and check what is actually displayed. Save the booking number and permanent ID. Those two identifiers help tie an image request to one custody episode rather than every record sharing a name.
NRVRJ publishes no named 24-hour or 72-hour photo feed, no released-record retention period, and no promise that every released detail keeps a mugshot. The related Jail Releases: 24 Hours page explains how to limit a released-inclusive lookup by a verified Release Date without calling it a complete daily feed.
Request Pulaski Booking Photos
A narrow request is the most reliable official fallback. Virginia Code § 2.2-3706(A)(1) addresses the adult arrestee photograph taken during initial intake as part of routine booking. Ask for that exact image attached to the specified booking. Do not request every photograph for a common name.
- Identify the full legal name, date of birth, booking number, and approximate intake date. Include the permanent ID if the lookup provides it.
- Write to New River Valley Regional Jail for the image tied to that booking. State that an electronic copy is preferred.
- Cite the routine adult initial-intake photograph category under § 2.2-3706(A)(1). Ask for the specific releasable image, not a new narrative.
- Request an advance cost estimate before the charge passes a limit you choose. NRVRJ has not published a verified photo fee schedule in the research.
- If the jail identifies another custodian, send the narrowed request to that agency. Keep its written response with the image.

Virginia's ordinary FOIA framework calls for a response within five working days, though the agency may lawfully invoke added time with written notice. A response may produce the record, redact part, cite an exemption, state that no responsive record exists, or explain the extension. It is a response deadline, not a promise that every requested image will be released at once.
Note: Virginia FOIA requires access to existing records; it does not require the jail to create a photo, research identity, or explain a person's status.
Pulaski Booking Photo Disclosure Limits
Section 2.2-3706 contains both access rules and limits. Release of the adult booking photo may be delayed when disclosure would jeopardize a felony investigation, until that risk ends. Expunged or sealed records also cannot be released through ordinary FOIA when the law bars dissemination. Other lawful protections may apply to the underlying criminal or correctional file even when the routine intake photograph is disclosable.
A public booking photo is not the same as an open full case file. Narrow wording reduces confusion. Ask for the routine adult initial-intake photograph and enough identifiers to isolate the booking. If the photo is withheld, read the agency's cited reason and use the appeal or court process provided by Virginia law when appropriate.
No Pulaski Sheriff Mugshot App
No verified official NRVRJ or Pulaski County, Virginia sheriff mobile app advertising released inmates or mugshots was found. Apps with a similar Pulaski name may belong to Missouri, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, or another jurisdiction. They should not be used for a Virginia booking. GettingOut and ConnectNetwork tools linked through jail resources are communication or payment services, not official mugshot or release databases.
This absence changes the search order. Use NRVRJ's official lookup, then request the image from the jail. Do not substitute a third-party jail-branded app simply because it displays a familiar county name. Confirm the operator, state, and source agency before relying on any mobile result.
Note: A missing official app does not make the photograph private; it means the records-request route is more important.
Pulaski State Correctional Photos
If the person moved from NRVRJ into state custody, check the VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator. Any public state photograph belongs to the VADOC correctional record. If the result does not display one, request the specific releasable image or record from VADOC. A state image may have been taken at a different date and facility from the local booking.
The Virginia State Police registry is narrower. It publishes a photograph only for people with a legal duty to register, along with authorized identity and status data. It is not a general list of released inmates and cannot establish an NRVRJ release date. Use it only when the registration duty makes that source relevant, and do not generalize its coverage to other released people.
For a person who left federal prison, the BOP record follows federal custody but should not be treated as an NRVRJ photo. A transfer to ICE is another custody change, not proof of community release. The agency that created the image remains the key to labeling it correctly.
Pulaski Mugshots in Secondary Sources
Official agency press releases and established news reports may preserve an arrest photograph after a jail result changes. They are secondary evidence. Check the original caption, publication date, jurisdiction, and identity, then read the later court disposition. An arrest photo cannot be presented as proof of conviction or current custody. The research did not establish one Pulaski news outlet as an official release-photo channel.
Commercial aggregators are the weakest route. A copied image can be stale, assigned to the wrong Pulaski in another state, or left online after an official correction. Some businesses seek money for removal. Do not treat an aggregator as a records custodian, do not hotlink it, and do not endorse a removal service. Use such a result only as a lead back to NRVRJ, VADOC, or the court.
Pulaski Mugshot Removal and Expungement
Virginia Code § 8.01-40.3 creates a narrow civil remedy when a publisher of arrest or charge information solicits, requests, or accepts money or value to remove it. The remedy can involve actual damages or $500, whichever is greater, plus reasonable attorney fees and costs. Statutory exceptions apply. This law is not a general accuracy seal and does not promise removal from every publisher.
Expungement and sealing under Virginia law work through court and statutory processes. Under Virginia law, a granted order restricts dissemination through the official chain. A removed jail or court result can reflect lawful sealing, not a technical error. The governing framework changes on December 1, 2026, so any petition or removal request should be checked against the then-effective statute and official Virginia courts expungement information.
When an official record has been sealed or expunged, send the publisher or agency reliable proof and identify the exact image and URL. Do not pay a service based only on a promise. For an inaccurate secondary image, provide the corrected official record and request a correction directly.
Note: Removal from one source does not prove that every lawful copy or related court record has also been removed.
Verify Pulaski Mugshot Identity
Match the photograph to a booking number, permanent ID, date of birth, intake date, and originating agency. Then compare the Pulaski court record. A name and face alone are not enough, especially when records are copied across sites. The official Pulaski County released inmate search gives the complete path for checking the release event and destination.
Keep the source response with the image. Label it as an arrest or intake photograph from the named agency and date. State the later disposition separately. That method preserves the difference between a past booking, a completed release, and present legal status.
