NRVRJ's released-inclusive lookup supplies a more durable local cross-check when the record remains online. It can return a Release Date plus the booking and permanent identifiers. A court docket supplies the release authority, sentence, or bond event. A narrow jail record request can establish actual release time, reason, and destination if disclosable. These channels answer different questions and should be reconciled.
Register Pulaski County Release Alerts

Contact details can fail or change. Review the registration while the person remains in custody, especially after a phone number or email address changes. Pulaski Jail VINE Versus NAAVI
The Virginia Jail VINE workflow confirms that Pulaski County has two channel-specific notification paths. Virginia Jail VINE covers local and regional jail custody, including NRVRJ. VADOC now uses NAAVI for its state-prison notification program. A person can move from NRVRJ to VADOC after a state sentence, which ends the local jail episode but does not end confinement. A Jail VINE registration should not be assumed to follow that person into the state system.
VADOC says NAAVI covers people sentenced within its notification scope and does not cover local or regional jail inmates, probationers, or parolees. Its stated events include transfer, anticipated release, actual release, death, name change, work release, escape and recapture, and parole interview or decision. VADOC describes anticipated release notice as typically arriving about 30 days before the date, with another notice if the expected date changes. That timing belongs to the state NAAVI channel, not to NRVRJ Jail VINE.

Read Pulaski County VINE Events
The event word controls the meaning. Release says the reporting agency's custody ended. Transfer says a different custodian may now hold the person. Escape and return from escape are custody events, not releases. Death is also not an ordinary release and should never be described that way. Optional work-release or electronic-monitoring notices vary by agency and were not verified for NRVRJ.

A VADOC supervisee result is separate from NAAVI coverage. Pulaski County state probationers and parolees are generally managed through VADOC District 28 in Radford, but NAAVI says it does not cover probationers or parolees. Check NRVRJ directly when the expected event is local, and use VADOC for state custody.
Federal systems are outside VINELink. A person who served a federal sentence may appear in the BOP locator with a past release date and a statement that the person is not in BOP custody. A federal pretrial defendant may instead require the federal court or U.S. Marshals Service. ICE uses its Online Detainee Locator System for current civil immigration custody and certain recent movements. None of those results proves an NRVRJ release unless the individual custody chain connects them.
For a durable local record, ask NRVRJ for the named booking's actual release date and time, recorded category or authority, and transfer destination if disclosable. For state custody, use VADOC's locator, release documents, or records process. The event alert is the prompt to verify, not the last step.
